It is with deep regret that we report the recent sad passing, following a short illness, of County Past Captain, County Past President and Bedlingtonshire Golf Club member Carol Ramsay.
Carol was originally a member of the County Exec and in 2002 became ELGA Handicap Advisor, assisting ladies with the changeover to the CONGU system.
In 2006 Carol sat the R & A Rules exam in Edinburgh, and progressed to be a Level 3 referee. Not only was Carol a valued member of our Association refereeing many of the County Championship Finals, Carol also refereed at the highest level in national competitions, including the Curtis Cup!
Carol who was born in America, felt that to be County Captain, it was only right that she should become a British citizen, which she did, (typically Carol) and was Captain in 2007 and President in 2017-2018.
Carol was always positive, a very enthusiastic golfer, had a wonderful sense of humour, and her knowledge of golf rules was legendary!
Our thoughts and condolences are with Carol’s husband Neil and family at this sad time. Carol was a well liked and respected member of our County Association, and will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her.
