The Junior Championship is a 36 hole strokeplay event for all girls under the age of 18 on 1st January of the year of competition and with a handicap limit of 20.4
The Junior Champion is presented with the Trish Todd trophy having achieved the Best Gross score over the 36 holes.
The Junior Championship trophy was presented in 1992 by Trish Todd of Gosforth Park who was County Captain from 1980-81 and County President 1993-94
A Junior may play in both the County Championship and the Junior Championship, as both Championships are played on the same day. Juniors will be integrated into the field in handicap order. The Junior Champion will be declared and awarded the Trish Todd trophy at the end of play on day 1 of the Championship, the winner having the best gross score over 36 holes. A Junior who is placed in the top 16 gross scores on day 1 of the Championship may choose to go through to the match play stage of the County Championship. A Junior could therefore potentially hold both Championship titles in one year.
