22 ladies played in strong winds, occasional heavy downpours on beautifully presented but tricky greens. The 3 over CSS of 73 that was “reduction only” bore out the tough conditions.

The cup was won by Brenda Herbert of Longhirst Hall GC with a superb 92 nett 73, with Alnmouth Village’s own vice-captain Barbara Clark second with 103 nett 78.

Our thanks go to Alnmouth Village GC members for the use of the course, the lovely flowers adorning the trophy and scoring tables crafted by Margaret Mayfield and the prizes for the raffle which raised £34. Thanks also to Simon and Jess for the catering/bar and Lady Captain Jan Steele with her helpers who ensured the safe passage of the players across the beach road and hosted the County competitions team throughout the day.

This was the last County competition of the season so I would like to also thank Patricia Luckey and her team of helpers for the smooth running of all the fixtures throughout the season. You can pack away the computer until next season and put your feet up knowing you’ve done a great job.

Congratulations to Brenda and Barbara and thanks to everyone who took part and supported Fields In Trust.
