Rearranged annual bridge day held at Stannington on Thursday 11th October 2018

Thank you to all the ladies who came to Stannington Village Hall last Thursday to support the County annual Bridge Day. Having postponed it from January as it had become less popular we decided to make some changes. We moved it to the end of the summer, started earlier in the day and replaced afternoon tea with a light lunch. We also decided to change the type of bridge and gave Duplicate a go rather than the traditional Chicago. Overall these changes seem to have been well received.

The 52 ladies played 6 hands before lunch, prepared and served by the County Exec committee members, and once replete played a further 6. The randomly dealt hands provided much discussion as there were some very unusual distributions. The winning scores for North-South and East-West were both over 2000, partners Jan Stronach and Jen Foster were the NS winners and Freda Simpkin and Cecily Mangham the EW. Well played ladies.

The County Exec would like to thank Gary Matthews for being Bridge Director and managing the pace of play. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets for the raffle which raised £150.
