Win for the County in annual friendly with the Vets
- - - - -

On 5th May the annual friendly match was held between the County Ladies and County Lady Veterans. This is a great fixture that's been going on for many, many years. Rooting about in the captain's case full of the record books going back to 1937, the first mention I could find of this match is way back in 1949. What a tradition and long may it continue.

On a beautiful day at the Bridlepath, with blue skies and the sun beating down, the course looked beautiful and is recovering fast after the really wet start to the season. For a bit of a change and to make it more interesting we played 2 games within each of the 4 matches. 4BBB on the front 9 and 4sms on the back 9, with 2 points for a win and 1 for a half on each 9. The matches were played in the usual great spirit and watched by the stalwart family and friends. The result was a win to the County by 11 points to 5. Well done girls.

Our thanks go to Gosforth Golf Club for course courtesy and to the Caterers for an absolutely superb meal. Thank you also to Vets Captain Lynne Liddle for the organisation and the Lady Vets team who always make us feel so welcome. We wish you every success for your season.
